Friday evening I took the opportunity to capture the up mainline on the site of Bredon Station being lifted and re laid. The following morning I visited the same spot and got an updated photo of the work.

Bulgaria here we come... Three Allelys low loaders are seen transporting 87013, 87014 and 87004 out of Long Marston storage in Warwickshire heading for Hull docks where they will be placed on a ship and head off to Bulgaria. 9 November 2009

The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway autumn diesel gala took place over the weekend of 25th and 26th October. The weather was difficult to predict and I think nearly every photographer got a soaking!

Visited the SVR briefly on Friday and Sunday but the weather wasn't playing ball so I didn't stay there for long. So here is what I got out of the two days.

 | | Statfold & Evesham Vale Light Railway
Went over to Statfold near Tamworth to the Barn Railway on Saturday to visit their open day.
Sunday I was on duty at the Evesham Vale Light Railway and the sun made an appearance throughout the day.

56311 worked 0Z56 Worcester-Long Marston to pick up 87013, 87014, 87004 and 86401 and then deliver them to Crewe for testing.
60041 works through Defford with 6M41 the previous day.

DB Schenker class 37s no's 37670 and 37401 worked 2O72 09:09 Bristol Temple Meads to Weymouth and are seen approaching Bathampton Junction with the sun gleaming over Bath.
60074 passes Coaley working 6E41, a Westerleigh to Lindsay tank train.

Took a trip out to the GWML to photograph the local movements in the Didcot area.

Visited the West Midlands to capture electrics and diesel locomotives along the Oxford canal at Ansty, visited Crewe Heritage Centre and squatted at Heamies Farm near Norton Bridge.

 | | Midland Railway Centre Works Open Day
The Midland Railway Centre at Butterly opened its works doors to the public on Saturday 29th August.
Photographer Brian Morrison named a class 08 "Red Lion" on Butterly Station.
It was interesting to see the mixture of locomotives working the service trains at the same time...

 | | 92203 Black Prince Celebrates its 50th Birthday
92203 Black Prince Celebrates its 50th Birthday at Toddington with Artist David Shepherd being the main host.
A large double birthday cake was presented to the engine cut by David Shepherd and Ian Crowder on Platform one at Toddington.
An N Gauge model of the 9F Locomotive made by Dapol was placed on the running plate of the Standard Gauge Black Prince and ran up and down a length of track which caused immidiate interest to those who attended.

 | | Last Hitachi Javelin at Southampton Docks
The 17th August saw the final three Hitachi class 395 Javelins arrive in the UK at Southampton Docks (395027, 395028 and 395029)
Cargo specialists Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics, DB Schenker and Hitachi worked together seemlessly to bring the 29 trains to the UK and to deliver them on schedule to a depot in Ashford for comissioning.

Travelled down to Bristol to capture the departure of Tornado from Bristol Temple Meads and is seen accellerating through Parson Street.
The Baloon festival was also on. Please see my non railway website for photos of those.

 | | Cotswold Line Re Doubling
66186 and 66055 top and tail a rake of ballast wagons on the Cotswold line near Mickleton Tunnel or Campden Tunnel as it is known now. This is laying ballast in aid of the re-doubling of the Cotswold Line. The line is currently shut for 6 weeks with a possession between Evesham and Moreton in Marsh. The train is seen crawling towards Evesham on the early evening of 7 August 09.
I then stopped off at Ashchurch on the way home from work and captured a Cross Country HST and Freightliner 66527 on a coal train.

37670 worked 6V17 Bescot to Long Marston on Wednesday 1st July 09 and is seen at Norton Junction en route to Long Marston.

20154 and 20137 worked the last departure from Toddington to Cheltenham Racecourse. This was a test run for 20154 before the Gala in a few weeks time.

The last time I visited Toton was approximately 8 years ago, I popped in to have a quick look from the bank and took some shots. I couldn't get over the amount of class 60's there were lined up.
Then we decided to visit Shackerstone briefly to look at the museum on the station. It took over an hour to find the place as the signs weren't brilliant - we arrived to find that it was Thomas The Tank weekend and the platform full of screeming kids...
